Our team’s management is composed of four experienced moms and 2 expert consultants with insights and experience in testing and reviewing baby gear—we’re your one-stop shop for everything you need to know about what to get your baby and have other guides about motherhood.
Our team has widespread experience testing and reviewing baby gear of different categories ranging from baby monitors, car seats, strollers, trampolines, bassinets, cribs, formula, diapers, and travel systems, among others.
How Motherhood HQ Came to Be:
The idea to create Motherhood HQ was sparked at a baby sleep consultant conference where Ashley met Sarah, Sandra, and several other moms who are now part of the larger Motherhood HQ community.
Ashley, who is our editor here and a baby sleep consultant, recognized the potential to connect with mothers who might find value in reading honest, trustworthy first-hand baby gear reviews from other moms. And not just real-mom reviews!
Our reviews are live in that you can follow up with our review committee or even the specific user in our network of any particular product to get any specific information about a baby product before buying.
We began publishing guides and reviews about a few baby monitors as we saw more questions on baby safety – especially in light of baby monitor hacking because of poor security features in some models.
Our aim is to produce very practical user and buying guides along with a weighted rating that incorporates several user feedback. We found this to be an excellent way to be helpful to our community. They no longer have to practically text each other as they can rely on our guides.
Since we founded Motherhood HQ, our mission has remained the same and we seek to help moms find the best baby gear, through quality product reviews and comparison charts so they don’t have to spend hours researching products. We are now one of the leading baby gear review sites by experienced moms on the internet with over 60,000 unique monthly visitors looking for advice about babies each month!
Our goal is simple: provide actionable information on what the best products are by looking at real user reviews and feedback from parents just like you. There’s no reason why you have to have a bad or mediocre experience, and we’re here to help!
Why trust our reviews: 5 Reasons
- We are moms ourselves: we know that being a mom is hard, and we want to make it just a little bit easier for you. We also know that there are a lot of choices out there when it comes to baby products, and it can be overwhelming trying to figure out what’s best for your family. That’s why we exist – to help you wade through the overwhelming sea of choices and find the perfect product for your family.
- We recommend products we have used ourselves or has been used by moms in our network: we would never recommend a product that we wouldn’t use ourselves or that we don’t believe in.
- We take our reviews seriously: our team of experienced moms put each product through a rigorous testing process to make sure it meets our high standards. We also rely on feedback from the larger Motherhood HQ community to get a well-rounded idea of how a product performs in the real world.
- All our reviews are unbiased: we do not accept free products or compensation in exchange for positive reviews. We believe that this would compromise the integrity of our reviews
- We are passionate about helping moms feel confident in their purchase decisions and supporting one another: We are a team of mothers who are passionate about helping other mothers feel confident in their purchase decisions. We also believe in the power of community and supporting one another, and we hope that our reviews can be a helpful resource for you as you navigate the often-overwhelming world of baby products.
Over the years, we have reviewed or directly used over 500 baby product brands. Since 2019, thousands of parents have relied on us to provide well-researched information on pregnancy, parenting, baby gear, and more. Whenever we publish any information relating to the health of the baby, we consult expert pediatricians, midwives, therapists, and OB/GYNs.

Motherhood HQ Community
We have a growing community of moms and we provide each other with insider tips and tricks. New parents need every bit of help they can get, especially when it comes to the details. When should I replace that diaper cream container? Which brand of pacifier is best? How do you clean that newborn clothes? We are able to share all these helpful answers and tips on our Motherhood HQ’s Community Dashboard.
Mothers voluntarily enroll on our network (Community Dashboard) with each enrolling mom indicating the product they have first-hand experience with. Other moms looking to purchase an item that a parent in the network has used can communicate directly and get specific answers to questions on various features.
As moms, when we are in the midst of raising a child, it’s hard to stay abreast with all the newest products available in the market but there are moms that already have experience with any particular baby gear. Where there are hundreds of brands out there vying for our attention and wallets we strive to develop a comprehensive review platform for baby products by relying on other moms to review and give us first-hand information to inform our annual lists of top baby gear in different categories.
Fast-evolving Baby Gear Space Inspires Us to Continue Publishing Quality Guides and Reviews
In 2016, Consumer Reports indicated that it would stop testing and ranking some essential baby gear items including baby monitors, cribs and bassinets. The reason? They didn’t provide a reason.
What this meant was that parents now had to rely on online reviews that are often biased, and they had to hope that their friends or family had purchased the product they were looking at and could give them an honest review. Most online reviews from many untrustworthy sources are also fake.
According to BrightLocal research, 82% of consumers have read a fake review in the last year (2018-19). With these statistics, you can understand the difficulty parents have to face when trying to buy a baby product with 6,000 options to choose from with most of the available reviews being fake or from fake users.
Our Review and Evaluation Process:
We strive to present factual information by quoting original, peer-reviewed publications. We also get guidance from reputable organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) for general baby-related publications and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for safety ratings of different baby travel gear—car seats, strollers, and travel systems.
We also rely on independent testing organizations and certification institutions such as Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and Consumer Reports. With disappointment, Consumer Reports is no longer testing baby monitors, one of the products we review here. For products that are required to have the manufacturers test and certify that they meet the safety standards set by the US Consumer Products Safety Agency (CPSA), we work to obtain the Children Product Certificate issued by the agency. For baby monitors, we rely on the information put out by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) indicating the EMF emission levels and whether the particular baby monitor meets the minimum standards.
We also reach out to manufacturers directly to get info about products and provide first-hand information on products by testing them ourselves or by relying on the parents in our network that have used any of the products we review
We also keep a rigorous list of product recalls and keep our readers updated on what to avoid.
About the Content We Publish
Our editor and the team here decide on the content to publish including which products to review and recommend. From time to time, manufacturers may request to be featured and may send us products to review (for free) which we do like any other product that we’ve bought from retailers. In our reviews and recommendations, we remain unbiased and are independent of the external influence of partners, advertisers and sponsors.
We do not accept monetary compensation for us to include a product in our recommendation lists. We do earn a commission for every qualifying purchase resulting from clicks originating from our website and this is disclosed in every review post we have on the site. We also earn from display ads appearing on different pages on the website.
We strive to be objective in our review recommendations and we base our rating on our research of the product and specs, product performance, the feedback customers have shared, and the comparison of the products to its peers. We also include personal experience using the product and when we test we do indicate other subjective opinions on products’ ease of use.
