Samsung Micro SD Card

Samsung baby monitors use a micro SD card and they recommend the MicroSD card from the following manufacturers: Sandisk and Kingston.

Sandisk microSD card is one of the recommended memory cards by Samsung and below are some of the main features you get from the SD card:

What to look out for when purchasing a Micro SD for your Baby Monitor:

  1. Memory capacity – Memory capacity of SD cards is measured in bytes and they range from 500 Megabytes to 128 Gigabytes. When considering the purchase of a baby monitor SD card, you can either chose a big memory capacity SD card with 128 GB or you may purchase several small SD cards with 16 GB each. The reason for recommending small capacity memory cards is because if you lose one, you still have several other cards left. If you lose or damage the 128 GB card, you lose a significant amount of video footage that you may not be able to recover.
  2. Card Data Storage Type: SD, SDHC, and SDXC: SD cards store their data only up to a maximum of 2GB using FAT 12 and FAT 16 systems. High capacity SD cards store data up to a maximum of 32 GB on a different system, FAT 32 system. There is a final type that uses extended capacity storage system, exFAT system and it can store up to 2 TB of data. The most common types are the high capacity SD cards. Before ordering a baby monitor SD card, make sure the file storage that the baby monitor supports works with the SD card by reading the user manual.
  3. Speed of data transfer – Every baby monitor comes with the specs and it should always match with the transfer speed of the SD card. Most manufacturers list the transfer speed of every SD card. If you intend to be capturing a lot of videos, SD card with a high transfer speed of over 100 MB per second, for example, is ideal for you. If you choose a low data transfer SD card, it can take some time to write the data to the card and may experience delays.
