Reviews of our 10 Best Baby Cribs in 2022
1. Graco Benton 4-in-1 Convertible Crib
Our overall best crib in this 2022 list is the Graco Benton 4-In-1 Convertible Crib. This product was chosen for its quality, affordability, and features that make it stand out amongst its competitors.
In terms of appearance and design, I really like this model’s elegant and timeless design that would look great in any nursery. The crib is also convertible and can be turned into a toddler bed, daybed, or full-size bed, which is perfect for growing families.
Graco chose to partner with Stork Craft, one of America’s most prestigious baby furniture producers, for their crib production. Stork Craft is the leading crib producer in North America and is certified by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA).
As for safety, this product meets all of CPSC’s safety requirements and has a JPMA certification. The Graco Benton also has an extra-durable frame that is made out of New Zealand Pine Wood, one of the sturdiest woods available.
I really like that this brand is a 4-in-1 convertible because it can be used for a full-size bed, daybed, or toddler bed, and also has guardrails. This is important since you won’t have to buy your child a new bed as they grow older and become toddlers or adults.
This product is also made of New Zealand Pine wood, which is a high-quality and sturdy wood that can last for years.
In terms of ease of installation, it took us less than 20 minutes to fully assemble this crib as the instructions in its manual are pretty straightforward.
As of this update in November 2022, this brand is currently the best-selling convertible crib on Amazon and has been for some time now. See the snapshot below with the rating and ranking.

The Graco Benton Convertible Crib features a beautiful, simple, and classic design with an arched headboard and slats all around in white and other beautiful finishes that are elegant for any nursery. Buying this crib is what you would call a lifetime investment because it is designed to grow with your infant all through to teenage years.
Being a 4-in-1, it converts from a crib to a toddler bed, daybed, and a full-size bed with a headboard or footboard, with the rail sold separately. It is built with New Zealand solid pine and meets JMPA and ASTM safety requirements.
Compared to Delta’s 4-in-1 crib(our 4th best brand below), the Graco Benton is more affordable without compromising on quality or safety. Both brands have three-position mattress height adjustment positions so you can use the first height for your infant and continue to lower as she begins to sit and stand. You can use this crib with any standard mattress.
2. Babyletto 3-in-1 Convertible Crib
If you are not a fan of the classic design, the Babyletto Convertible Crib features a modern and a mix of traditional designs with its iconic turned-out foot and an open silhouette. It’s available with up to eight finishing variations (white, gray, natural, and espresso) to choose from to complement your nursery style. We love how you cannot see any bolts on the outside.
The Babyletto crib has four height mattress adjustment positions that are easily adjustable as the baby grows. Because of its leg’s design, it tends to be a bit shorter, which is a good thing for short moms to be able to pick and put down the baby without straining the back too much. As a 3-in-1 it converts from a crib, toddler bed, and daybed, and the toddler bed conversion kit is included. It takes the standard mattress with no more than 6 inches in thickness
The crib is made from New Zealand solid pine wood and uses non-toxic finishing so you don’t have to worry even if your baby chews on it. It also has ASTM and CPSC certifications.

The other feature we really like is the rollers on the legs which can be locked when you want the crib to be stationary. This is a useful feature to facilitate moving around and when you want to clean underneath the crib. You can use this crib with a standard mattress and it has four mattress heights that can be easily adjusted.

Are cribs safe?
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is a government agency that regulates crib safety. In order to be sold in the United States, cribs must meet certain safety standards set by the CPSC.
Given its vast number of products CPSC tracks, it is only able to actually come up with standards for testing a small portion of products. Some reports claim that products that go through testing to ascertain safety are less than 5%.
The way CPSC works is that it relies on independent third-party labs to follow the set standards for testing cribs and give a report indicating whether a product has passed a test or not.
While CPSC has had several standards for cribs, there were far-reaching amendments that were introduced to the cribs standards.
Nearly 30 years had passed since the federal crib standards were last updated when, on Dec. 28, 2010, new mandatory standards for full-size and non-full-size baby cribs were issued by the Commission as mandated by the CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008). This marked a safer generation of cribs.
The new rules clearly defined what a full-size crib is delineating it from a non-full-size crib.
It defined ‘non-full-size crib’ as baby products intended for use “in or around the home, for travel and other purposes.” This definition puts all baby products such as loungers, sleepers, swings, and others in this category of the non-full-size crib.
It went further to give the dimensions of what a full-size crib should be. A full-size crib has interior dimensions of 28 ± 5/8 inches (71 ± 1.6 centimeters) in width by 523/8 ± 5/8 inches (133 ± 1.6 centimeters) in length.
As per data quoted on CPSC Safety Standard, about some 2.1 million cribs(out of 2.4 million) or 88% of the cribs in the market are full-size cribs. These are from about 68 manufacturers with 62% of those manufacturers being based here in the US.
ASTM International led the efforts back in 2009/10 and is still at the forefront of promoting the safety of kids in cribs. Their work has led to improvements in labeling and warning to reduce accidents. For example, the revised standards for F1169 and F406 include new language that will help inform parents of potential crib-safety-related hazards. This includes making them more aware of when a crib is misassembled, the dangers of attaching external products to full-size cribs and play yards, and when a child may be too old to be using a crib – increasing the risk for injuries from falling out.
With CPSC’s limited capacity to go above and beyond in ascertaining different ways brands of different cribs have met the set standards, JPMA and ASTM have developed voluntary standards that manufacturers submit their products. Most of the popular brands submit to the standards and have the certification seal from JPMA and ASTM. As you consider your options on the safest baby cribs in the market, make sure they have the JPMA and ASTM certification seal.
The risks babies face when sleeping in a crib include the risk of SIDS and SUID, accidental suffocation, and strangulation. There have been improvements in crib safety with requirements such as firm mattresses that fit snugly in the cribs, no gaps between the mattress and the side of the crib so baby’s head cannot get stuck. There are also drop-side rails that have been eliminated as a cause of entrapment and suffocation.
Cribs Buying Guide
What are baby cribs?
A baby crib refers to a type of bed that is specifically designed for newborns and young children who are under 2 or 3 years old. From baby cribs for your girls and their dolls to twins, there are plenty of options available to fit different buyers’ needs. Whether you need modern versions, cribs made with natural, light, or dark wood, vintage style, mini cribs, those you can attach to your bed, or with changing tables, they are all available.
Cribs for babies come in different shapes such as oval and colors such as white, yellow, espresso, and pink among others to help match them easily with décor in your living room or bedroom. Some designs of baby cribs come with wheels for portability and drapes for Graco.
When you’re planning to have a baby, a crib’s safety is likely one of the topics you’ll dwell on as you research top brands suitable for your little one. The concern about the safety of newborn babies in a crib is a valid one as there have been reported deaths and even recalls of 2.1 million cribs with drop-sides.
A crib is a small bed designed specifically for infants and very young children up to three years old. Cribs are now mostly made of wood or metal, but they were traditionally made out of wicker or willow. The word “crib” likely comes from the Old English word “crabbe” which means “manger” or “food trough.”
Cribs provide a safe place for babies to sleep and they help to create a routine for naps and bedtime. Cribs also give parents peace of mind, knowing that their baby is sleeping in a safe environment.

Even best, you can get a decent baby crib that is under $100 and under $200. You can also try to look for available baby cribs offers from different dealers.
What makes a good crib?
In the US, all baby cribs on sale must meet specific safety standards which is why I advise you as parents to go for a new purchase since these requirements change. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) amends these recommendations frequently.

- Certification and safety standards: Only those cribs that have been approved as safe by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) were considered.
