As of October 15, 2019, baby monitors may cost you as low as $20 (or even lower) and as high as $400 (or even higher). I have spent a significant amount of time to segment different baby monitors into the following price categories as of the pricing I obtained on Amazon on October 15, 2019. Make sure to link to the active link to Amazon to get the specific product pricing today.

The prices for baby monitors have been falling since the 1990s when the video baby monitor cost up to $1000. If you are looking to buy a baby monitor, you should first decide on what you expect your baby monitor to offer you and you can then narrow down on the different categories of baby monitors. The inexpensive baby monitors are audio baby monitors that sell for as low as $20 (as of 15th Oct 2019). However, if you are looking for a more sophisticated baby monitor that tracks breathing, for example, you should probably plan on paying at least $100.

The prices mentioned are generalized and were obtained in October 15, 2019. To get the current prices, you should click on each of the provided links to Amazon to get the current price.

Best Baby Monitors For Less Than $200

I personally prefer baby monitors that are in the $150 to $200 range as they provide fairly good quality and you can trust it to last for at least one year, a typical warranty period for most video baby monitors. Most of the best-rated baby monitors that I prefer do not rely on the internet for connectivity and are in this price range. There are good reasons why the best baby monitors sell for this range, the best one being that adequate resources have been put to develop the different features.

The inexpensive baby monitors listed on the first category above do not have many features that a parent may need. For example, if you want your baby monitor to be able to monitor the temperature in the baby’s room, you should need to consider any of the baby monitors above $50. As of October 15, 2019, the following baby monitors that we’ve reviewed on this site sell for $150 to $200:

1. Infant Optics DXR 8

Infant Optics DXR 8 is my favorite baby monitor under $200 that is retailed in most online stores and physical stores such as Walmart and Target. Infant Optics was released initially in 2013 but at that time it sold for more than $200.

Below are the features that make this a great baby monitor that is priced at under $200 despite great features and functionalities:

  • Functionality: It transmits audio and video
  • Does not rely on the internet
  • Manufacturer: Infant Optics
  • Interchangeable lens and great customer support

2. Eufy Spaceview Baby Monitor

Eufy Spaceview S is our second best video baby monitor under $200 as of its pricing on Amazon on October 15, 2019 (check its price today here). Though inexpensive compared to some expensive baby monitors that sell for as high as $400, Eufy Spaceview has great features such as a big 5-inch screen.

The Eufy Spaceview S was released in March 2019 although another version was released earlier in September 2018. The Wired reviewed this monitor and recommended it as the best non-wifi baby monitor ahead of Infant Optics DXR 8. On top of a larger screen compared to a 3.5-inch Infant Optics DXR 8 screen, Eufy Spaceview also has a micro-SD slot that allows you to record and playback your videos later.

Below are some of the features of Eufy Spaceview

  • Functionality: Audio and Video
  • Does not rely on the internet
  • Manufacturer: Anker Electronics
  • 5-inch display
  • 720p HD video resolution
  • Free Wide-angle lens

Best Baby Monitors Under $150

The best baby monitors under $150 are better than those in the range of $20 to $100. In fact, both wifi and non-wifi baby monitors that lie in this category are considered the best-value baby monitors. In addition, you’ll occasionally find the best baby monitors selling under $150 when on sale. These deals come rarely but when you find them, consider grabbing them. Arlo baby is considered one of the cheapest and great baby monitor that you can find for less than $150. You can use Arlo baby as a baby monitor as it is compatible with the Google Home Hub. This means that you can connect Arlo baby and use the 7-inch google home hub tablet to view the video feed from your baby nursery. Other baby monitors in this category are iBaby and Axvue which are some of the latest releases.

1. Cocoon Cam Plus

Cocoon Cam is my favorite and the best video baby monitor that you can get with less than 150 dollars as of October 15, 2019. Cocoon Cam uses the same technology used by Miku baby monitor and Nanit Plus but sells for less than half. It uses computer vision technology that processes images of your baby and gives you the breathing rate per minute. In addition, it has 1080p HD videos and is FSA/HSA approved. It is currently the 35th best-selling baby monitor on Amazon

  • Functionality: Audio and Video
  • Requires Wifi and stream videos to phone
  • Manufacturer: Cocoon Cam
  • Best value wifi baby monitor
  • Tracks breathing rate per minute

2.Arlo Baby Monitor

Arlo baby monitor is my second best video baby monitor that sells for under $150. We put Arlo as the second-best, behind Cocoon Cam as it is a classic, well-designed baby monitor that relies on Wifi.

However, I personally like Arlo for being a cheap video baby monitor compatible with any smart home. If you have Google Home Hub, Alexa Home or Homekit smart home, you can integrate it with this baby monitor for just $126.

Below are the features of this smart-home baby monitor.

4.Babysense Video Baby Monitor 3.5″

Babysense video baby monitor is our fourth best video baby monitor that is available in the market for under $150. Babysense made it to 10BabyGear’s list of top non-wifi baby monitors in 2019 despite costing almost half the price of the leading brands such as Eufy Spacevew S and Infant Optics DXR 8.

This 2-camera baby monitor actually costs way less than $150 and as of this update on October 5, 2019, it cost $95 and for that, you get the following

  • 2 cameras and one parent unit
  • 3.5-inch display unit
  • Interchangeable wide-ange lens
  • Incredible good night vision images
  • Long battery life
  • Manual pan of up to 360 degrees.

The list of great features that this inexpensive video baby monitor comes with made us add it to this list of top hack-proof baby monitors that do not rely on the internet.

5. Axvue Video Baby Monitor E632

Axvue E632 is my favorite twin baby monitor as it comes with two cameras but will only cost you less than $150. As of this update in October, Axvue E632 costs $129 (check today’s price here) and you get the following great features that are ideal for monitoring babies in separate rooms:

  • Functionality: Audio and Video
  • Manufacturer: Axvue, a company incorporated in the US on September 7, 2016.
  • Released to the market on February 11, 2018
  • It has a long battery life of up to 9 hours, thanks to its VOX mode feature. Want to learn about the meaning of VOX mode? VOX mode enables devices that transmit using radiofrequency to go on sleep mode when your baby is lying in the crib quietly and will only start streaming audio and visual signals when your baby starts making noise. Hence the word, voice-activated baby monitor.
  • It relies on hack-proof FHSS technology that guarantees 100% privacy of audio and visual signals from the cameras to the parent unit
  • It is an expandable baby monitor and can support up to 4 cameras

One disadvantage of this inexpensive baby monitor ideal for twin monitoring is that it does not support split-screen viewing. However, footage from each camera switches automatically every 8 seconds.

Top 10 Best Baby Monitors Under $100

The best baby monitors selling for under $50 are still audio baby monitors. A few video baby monitors that sell under 50 dollars may not be the best for you and your baby unless they are security cameras that are modified to be baby monitors. There are several video baby monitors that sell for even less at $30 in the market. A few brands of baby monitors however try to deliver quality and it is just uneconomical for them to deliver a great product for less than $30.

Best Expensive Baby Monitors

There are a few baby monitors that are quite expensive. Miku baby monitor which was released in January 2019 has cited various features and functionalities that make it a great baby monitor to justify its high price. Miku baby monitor has advanced chip encryption that ensures that your baby monitor will not be hacked and the safety of your baby compromised. A few other baby monitors guarantee this and Miku is among the few unhackable wifi baby monitors. A few others such as Safety 1st Wifi baby monitor have advanced encryption standards, AES-256 bit encryption, and secure SSL/TLS transmission.

Best Baby Monitors Under $20 – Inexpensive Monitors of 2019

Most baby monitors that sell for under $20 are audio baby monitors. In fact, only the best baby monitors for under 20 bucks are the audio-only baby monitors. If you find a video baby monitor for under $20, be prepared to face challenges with audio and video quality and possibly high radio electromagnetic emission which may be harmful to your baby. You should, therefore, be very careful with cheap video baby monitors. Below is our list of some of the best baby monitors under twenty dollars in June 2019. Again, these are only audio baby monitors. We do not recommend any parent buying cheap video baby monitors that sell for under $20. Only VTech and Summer Infant models of baby monitors featured in our 2019 list of cheap baby monitors selling for under $10. We will continue to revise this list.
