The Best Trampolines for Teens & Kids 2022 – Safety Considered

The Best Trampolines for Teens & Kids 2022 – Safety Considered

Before going through this guide with reviews of the best trampolines for pre-teens, kids, and teenagers, I want to give you some background on our research that got us this 2022 list.

When we asked our small group of parents in our Facebook group about what they knew about the best trampoline available, one parent who is always excited to share her unique views about baby products wasn’t as excited about trampolines. She mentioned that most available information or ‘third-party’ reviews were fake. And she was right.

In 2019, there was a disturbing case the FTC finally settled with a trampoline company that was promoting two brands ( Infinity Trampolines and Olympus Pro Trampolines) using unscrupulous ways. The two brothers created several websites about trampolines and created a fake seal; the “Trampoline Safety of America” logo. They also used the internet’s accessibility to leave thousands of fake reviews on legitimate sites.

I had to mention the story above because over 100,000 trampoline injuries are reported every year in the US. Over a million spent time in emergency rooms between 2002 and 2011 and 93% of the injured were children. This is where it hurts most. As a parent myself, I would hate myself knowing that I bought a faulty trampoline that got my child some neurological damage. Yes, one child in every 200 experiences permanent neurological damage because of these injuries.

With our aim to remain honest and transparent in our guidance to parents on what they should purchase for their kids, the Motherhood HQ team (myself and three other members) reached out to several parents and organizations that have actually tested these trampolines. While some were very supportive because of our objectivity to actually rank and decide which trampoline was the overall best, a few were asking for links. Interesting to note that those who were asking for links had not actually done the tests themselves.

How we ranked the top trampolines of 2022

That aside, we have compiled a list of the 13 best trampolines that you can rely on as a parent to give your child a safe bouncing environment. Below is a summary of all the important factors we considered:

  1. Safety of the trampoline:
  2. Bounce the trampoline gives
  3. Size and shape
  4. Price and warranty:
  5. Quality of the base/is the base sturdy enough: The best trampolines have sturdy bases and cannot tip over while your baby is bouncing on it. If the base is not weighted, you should make it can be secured to the ground. Make sure your option comes with anchors with no additional cost.

Reviews of the Best Trampolines for Pre-teen Kids

1. Springfree Trampolines (Best Safety)

as of May 23, 2023 9:36 pm

Springfree is our overall best trampoline which is ideal for most backyards and ideal for most parties that your kids and teens can think of. It comes in an oval shape which is good for multiple kids. Close to 100 parents have rated this trampoline 4.3/5 and most parents liked that it is spring-free and therefore perhaps the safest in the market. Springfree, the company behind this top-rated trampoline replaced metal springs with flexible composite rods under a softEdge mat. You can be sure that the softEdge mat will not let your baby’s fingers and hands wouldn’t be caught.

Here are other reasons we like this top trampoline:

  1. It can support up to 220lb of jumpers’ weight.
  2. There is barely any noise that this trampoline makes thanks to its great design.
  3. The mat absorbs the shock and provides smooth bouncing and on top of the soft bounces, it comes with a basketball hoop.
  4. You can choose from 10ft., 13 ft., 11ft. models.

This trampoline is not the biggest on this list and actually limited to kids only (not adults). Because of the rods, it is definitely the safest, and parents were shocked by the deceit of 2017 mentioned above. Currently, the trampoline has an 82% 5-star rating in 90+ reviews on Amazon.

Pros
  • Awesome bouncing experience
  • Durable & safe to use
  • Good value for money
  • Very many positive reviews from buyers
Cons
  • Takes time to assemble
  • Instruction directions need upgrade
  • Quality control needs improvement

2. Skywalker Trampoline (Best Value)

Skywalker is our third-best trampoline for kids. Skywalker is one of the renowned brands that was founded in 2004 and is actively engaged with programs that seek to give back to the community. They run an autism awareness program and as one of the popular brands, it gives immense value, without asking much in terms of cost. first available on June 28, 2013, this trampoline comes in a round shape and boasts a 77% 5-star rating in 1,400+ reviews on Amazon.

If you have a backyard, this can easily be set up in any space outside your home. It is significantly cheaper than Springfree trampolines (#1 above). The springs are placed at intervals creating a very consistent bounce. A basketball is also included but can be attached using velcro. As a parent, I was only satisfied that the net is sewn directly to the jumping pad, and the springs are below.

This trampoline comes with a weight limit of 220 lbs. and can be used by kids up to 6 years and above. When it comes to stability, it has 6 W-shaped legs and the frame is made with durable galvanized rust-resistant steel. The poles are outside of the jumping area and the mat features a V-ring connection which eliminates gaps. So, you can be sure of your child’s safety

Pros
  • Great price for incredible bounce
  • Easy to set-up
  • Good weight limit
  • Most reviewers say it is also good for adults
Cons
  • Nets quality could be better
  • Many concerns about the longevity of use

3. Skywalker Trampolines Rectangle

The rectangular Skywalker brand of trampoline came third and is the favorite for gymnasts as they provide the best bounce. While this brand uses springs, they all operate independently creating an even and coordinated bounce and landing. This trampoline was first released on October 21, 2021, and currently scores a 78% 5-star rating in more than 700 reviews.

Skywalker provides 92sq. ft jumping space with this trampoline which is bigger than the oval and round options. However, the weight limit is not so much different from the three as this one has a 250 lbs. limit. Like with most of its trampolines, there is a patented enclosure that helps reduce the gaps between the jumping surface and net. Your kiddos will always be safe.

The 12-gauge steel frame is very great as it provides an anchor to the frame as it bounces. The bounces on this trampoline are very high but it has a net enclosure with no gaps to keep your baby within the bouncing pad. We love that this trampoline uses 2 different types of springs which makes it very sturdy even your kiddo is bouncing on it.

Pros
  • Most clients are satisfied with the quality
  • Incredible bouncing experience
  • Easy to install
  • Buyers call it a worthy investment
  • Rectangular shape that accommodates more kids
Cons
  • Complaints about customer service
  • Many questions about quality control
  • Seems to have low lifespan

4. Zupapa Trampoline

Zupapa trampoline is highly praised and comes in a round shape like most in the review. We also ranked it fourth in this list as it is among the most popular brand that we love for quality and reliability. Zupapa is perhaps the safest trampoline in the market with its TUV certified materials, heavy gauge springs, and enclosure without gaps.

This trampoline made its debut on June 17, 2020. We included it in our list since most parents and kids love it and leave a lot of positive reviews. Currently, it ranks at #25 on Amazon’s Recreational Trampolines and scores an 87% 5-star rating in over 2,000 reviews. We like the 375 lbs. weight limit and the galvanized 7-inch springs that offer an impressive bounce. Other than this 8ft trampoline, other size options are available for up to 15ft.

For longevity and durability, Zupapa trampolines feature a heavy-duty galvanized frame that is also rust-resistant. On top of that, the legs have a W-shape design that promotes stability during use. This stability is reinforced using 6 pieces of wind stakes as well. Oh, and don’t forget about the unbeatable generous 10-year warranty.

Pros
  • Made with high-quality materials
  • Great customer service
  • Easy to install but requires some work
  • Fair pricing
Cons
  • Reports that it doesn’t do well in the sun
  • Quality control irks most people

5. Vuly Thunder Trampoline

Vuly Thunder Trampoline is our 5th best trampoline that is preferred by parents for the best safest bounces and is only second to the Springfree brand, our first trampoline reviewed above. Although it is expensive, given that it doesn’t use cheap springs but guarantees safety as the jumper can fully avoid the poles.

This trampoline first came to the market on March 14, 2018, and has had 8 reviews with a 25% 5-stars rating on Amazon.

Unlike Springfree above which uses a mat rod for support of the bouncer weight, Vuly Thunder uses leaf springs. Don’t get confused with the leaf springs, Vuly is still a springless trampoline.

Pros
  • Most buyers are satisfied with the quality
  • Great spring that offer excellent bouncing
  • Some purchasers say it’s great for slopes yards
  • Safety is observed
Cons
  • The entrance is narrow for a big kid or adult
  • Complaints that jumping mat is not connected to the side walls
  • Quality control needs improvement

6.  Skywalker Trampolines Mini Trampoline with Enclosure

Skywalker mini trampolines with enclosures were made to this list because of safety, our biggest consideration in all trampoline rankings. First available on November 8, 2011, it is currently the best-selling trampoline in the ‘Recreational Trampolines‘ category on Amazon. And even best, you can get this enclosed trampoline for less than $100 regardless of the size you pick. We like the 77% 5-star rating in more than 11,000 reviews on Amazon.

The polyethylene net which makes the enclosure would not let even a finger pass through. That aside, this trampoline that is considered safe for toddlers comes with 3 years warranty. For additional safety and stability of the bouncing kids, it has a 360 degree padded handlebar. The handlebar also makes it excellent for kids under 5 years who are not sturdy jumpers.

It comes with a weight limit of 100 lbs.

While this trampoline may be considered as a scaled-down version of a regular trampoline, I like it because it almost guarantees you the safety you would want for your toddler. It uses stretch bands and does not have springs (Springfree) which is good and softer on joints, although this limits the bounce height! In addition, it is closer to the ground and is very ideal for indoor bouncing.

Pros
  • High-quality construction
  • There is Styrofoam throughout to protect little bodies
  • Uses bungee cords instead of springs which is good for safety – no pinches
  • Compact size even for indoor use
  • Handlebar for little kids
Cons
  • Some buyers say the mesh is low quality
  • Installation can be tedious
  • Lots of complaints about missing parts during shipment

These trampolines come with 2 years warranty and are made of galvanized steel tube that is safe and easy to install.

It comes in a round shape with a 6-ft high enclosure net that is made using premium polyethylene material for enhanced sturdiness. The trampoline is available in 16, 5, 14, 12, 10, and 8 ft sizes and ranks in the top 100 recreational trampolines on Amazon.

Its frames measure 43mm (diameter) x 1.5mm (thickness) and are made of heavy-duty steel. And to ensure durability and prevent them from rusting, the steel frames are made using the latest tech hot-dip galvanizing process. These trampolines feature 48 heavy gauged 7-inch galvanized springs for a superior bounce and are rust-free. All the springs are concealed with thick and resilient blue or green 0.8-inch thick PE + PVC foam pad to help protect your little one from injury.

ORCC trampolines prioritize your child’s safety. Therefore, the enclosure poles feature 10mm foam padding that protects from bumping against the steel pole. The trampoline legs are W-shaped for durability and support while wind stakes are U-shaped for safety and stability. And did we tell you about the rain cover and UV protection? So, your kiddo can play anytime.

While ORCC trampoline may not be as big as Skywalker, it offers your little one sufficient mat space. The jumping mat uses heavy-duty stitching tech for a better bounce while increasing the longevity of use. These outdoor trampolines for kids offer a generous weight capacity of 450 lbs. It comes with a ladder to help your young one climb up easily and safely.

The only challenge with ORCC trampolines is that the round shape drives jumpers towards the center where they can collide. This makes it most suitable for one kid at a time or two at most.

  • Very sturdy construction that withstands weather & damages
  • Fairly easy to install
  • Generous weight capacity
  • High quality materials
  • Good value for money
  • Excellent customer service

This kid’s outdoor trampoline features a design that increases the zipper length. As such, it is easy for your kiddos to enter and exit. The jumping pad is made with pp material that is water-resistant which improves durability. Unlike ORCC, however, this 8-ft trampoline from AOTOB has a weight limit of 400 lbs. which is also large.

When it comes to safety, AOTOB does not compromise. The foam sleeves on frames ensure that your child plays without the risk of injuries. We also love how the spring cover and jumping pad are close to each other. As such, your baby’s foot sole cannot get stuck in the spring when they are jumping. The frame and the tightly woven jump pad are connected together securely by 48 galvanized springs. Therefore, your kiddo can jump comfortably.

To ensure the durability of the trampoline, the frame is made with thickened and anti-rust steel. And since stability is key to safety during jumping, you will admire the 3 large U-shaped legs with 6 contact points. Buying Guide for Top Kids’ and Teens’ Trampolines

When we were buying a trampoline for our daughter, Jasmine, the question that ran in our minds was what should I look for in a trampoline for kids? Other than the reputation of the brand, make sure that you check the following:

  1. Weight limit
  2. Shape – Rectangular, Oval, and Square trampolines are good choices if you have more than one kid. Round trampolines are suitable for one kid as they tend to drive jumpers towards the center where they may collide.
  3. Enclosures – Keep your little one safe inside the jumping area as they bounce. Make sure that the material allows for seamless airflow and is resilient.
  4. Space – Where do you want to put it up? Indoors or outdoors? How much space does your backyard have?
  5. Handlebars – If you have a baby who is below 5 years, this feature comes in handy as they are yet to become sturdy jumpers
