Motorola Baby Monitor Troubleshooting Sound, Night Vision, Screen, Charging, Connection etc

Whether it is night vision, no sound, the power button not working, beeping, or just not responding, these are some of the most common problems with Motorola Baby Monitors. In this troubleshooting guide, we will go over some potential solutions for each issue.

Motorola baby monitor troubleshooting no sound:

If you can’t hear any sound from your Motorola baby monitor, it is likely that the transmission signal is weak and cannot reach your monitor. Another reason for no or low sound is the interference of the monitor with other electronic devices in your home.

To fix sound issues in your Motorola monitor, try these fixes;

Do a reset of your monitor:

If you are experiencing sound issues with your Motorola monitor, there are a few things you can try to fix the problem. First, try doing a reset of the monitor by turning off the parent unit and unplugging the baby unit. Next, remove the battery pack the parent unit and disconnect the back battery cover. Inspect the batteries and remove them. Leave both units in this state for 15-30 seconds. After that, plug in the baby unit and turn on the parent unit. If the issue persists, recharge the parent unit and avoid dead batteries.

Get the monitor and camera closer for better connectivity:

Another way to fix sound issues with your Motorola monitor is to get the monitor and camera closer for better connectivity. If you are using a wireless connection, try moving the parent unit closer to the baby unit. If you are using a wired connection, check that the cables are properly connected and not loose.

Most Motorola brands have a range of 700 to 1000 ft. range in a straight line of sight. If you are still experiencing sound issues, try resetting your monitor again and moving it closer to the camera until you find a sweet spot where the connection is strong enough. If you live in a large house with thick walls, consider getting a monitor that uses DECT transmission technology as they are known to have a better range than those using FHSS and DSSS.

Check speaker connection:

Loose or poor connections can also result in sound issues. Check that the speaker is firmly plugged into the parent unit. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that the batteries in both units are not low and need to be replaced.

Check the audio settings:

If you still can’t hear any sound coming from your Motorola monitor, check the audio settings. On the parent unit, there should be a volume control knob that you can turn up. Make sure that the audio mode is not set to “vibrate” or “silent”.

On the baby monitor, there is usually a volume control as well. Check that it is turned up and not muted. There may also be an audio setting on the baby monitor that you can adjust. Try setting it to “high” to see if that makes a difference.

Replace a faulty speaker:

If you have tried all of the above and you still can’t hear any sound coming from your Motorola monitor, it is possible that the speaker is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Replace the batteries:

Low batteries can also cause sound issues. If you have not done so already, try replacing the batteries in both units. Use only high-quality batteries such as alkaline or lithium. Avoid using carbon-zinc batteries as they tend to leak and damage the units.

Check for issues with the baby unit microphone:

Motorola models come with an ultra-sensitive microphone that is supposed to capture even the faintest of sounds. If you can’t hear any sound coming from your monitor, it is possible that the microphone on the baby unit is not working. Try moving the baby unit closer to the crib and see if that makes a difference. If not, try resetting the baby unit and repairing it with the parent unit.

If the camera is not working in your Peekaboo brand, it might be because of wifi connection. Please check that the monitor is connected to the internet and your home wifi network. If it is, please try unplugging the monitor from the power outlet for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.

Another reason why the camera might not be working could be because of a low battery in either the parent unit or baby unit. Please check that both units have batteries that are above 50%.

2. Check the volume

On the baby monitor, there is usually a volume control as well. Check that it is turned up and not muted. There may also be an audio setting on the baby monitor that you can adjust. Try setting it to “high” to see if that makes a difference.

3. Move the units closer together

Night vision not working in my Motorola baby monitor – Reasons and how to fix:

There are several reasons why the night vision might not be working in your Motorola baby monitor. Below are some troubleshooting tips that might help you fix the problem.

1. Check the power source

The first thing you should do is to check if the units are properly plugged in and that the batteries are not low. If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that the signal is strong enough.

Night vision mode uses considerably more energy/power and therefore will shorten battery life.

2. Check that night vision is turned on

There is usually a switch or setting on the baby monitor that you can use to turn on night vision. Make sure that it is turned on and set to the correct mode. Most Motorola brands come with a sensor that automatically turns on night vision mode at low light conditions but if the sensor is not working, you may have to manually turn it on.

3. Clean the night vision lens

If the night vision lens is dirty, it can affect the quality of the image. Try cleaning the lens with a soft, dry cloth to see if that helps.

4.Make sure there is no false light that makes the sensor ineffective:

-Keep the baby monitor away from direct sunlight or strong light sources as this can cause the sensor to become ineffective.

– If you have a lamp in the room, make sure it is not pointed directly at the baby monitor as this can also cause the sensor to become ineffective.

5. Reset the units

If all else fails, you can try resetting the units. To do this, unplug them for a few minutes and then plug them back in. This will often clear up any minor glitches that might be causing the problem.

Motorola screen not connecting/pairing with the camera:

If you’re having issues connecting the parent unit to the camera unit of your Motorola video baby monitor, check that the power cord is firmly plugged into both the Parent Unit and an electrical outlet.

If you are using an extension cord, make sure that it is also firmly plugged in and that it is not loose.

Ensure that the Parent Unit is within range of the Baby unit. Ensure that all metal objects and other electronic devices can affect the range of your Parent Unit. The maximum range is 650 feet outdoors and 150 feet indoors.

If you are using your Parent Unit outside, try moving to a higher location, such as a second-story windowsill.

If you are using your Parent Unit indoors, try moving closer to the walls can also affect the range of your Parent Unit. If you are using your Parent Unit indoors, try moving closer to the Baby Unit and/or move the Baby Unit closer to the center of the room.

If you have moved the units as close as possible and you’re still having trouble connecting, please restart both units.

For Motorola units that do not require wifi, the most likely reason for the units not connecting/pairing is poor range connectivity. If the parent unit is further out of the recommended distance with its camera unit, the connection will be lost. You’ll see your screen unit’s connection to the camera unit cutting out repeatedly or the signal could completely cut off.

If you have already tried all of the troubleshooting steps and are still having issues connecting your Parent Unit to the Baby Unit, please contact Motorola customer care for assistance.

Motorola baby Monitor Warranty:

Most Motorola baby monitor brands come with a 1-year limited manufacturer warranty which covers warranty monitor malfunctions including sound, battery issues, night vision, and sound issues, among others.

You should, however, note that Motorola is not very generous with its warranty as other brands such as Infant Optics DXR 8. I can compare or equate Motorola and brands such as VTech as they have stringent policies aimed at discouraging or making it impossible to claim a warranty. VTech’s warranty period is only 3 months and they’ve made their warranty claims almost impossible.

They note on their website and manuals that you will need to provide a copy of your dated sales receipt to confirm your warranty status.

I do like that they do not require registration of warranty though. Some brands require you to register your device within 2 weeks of purchase in order to qualify to warranty claims.
